The Holiday

Written & Directed by Base Gamble

Produced by Bethany Tucker

In 2017 I was cast in a short film called ‘The Holiday’ - the concept was that this would be a totally improvised short film shot on location in Somerset at a gorgeous 16th century farm house called ‘Wick Farm’.

The cast met for the first time at hotel in nearby Langport, Somerset and were given an outline of what the film would entail. Once the cast were ready we were given directions to the set and immediately we started filming the first shot; the cast arriving (in character) on location at Wick Farm, which was to be our home and set for the shoot. The cast threw themselves into making the film which morphed, very quickly, from a short into what you can now in the finished film available via Amazon Prime. There was no script although the director had an outline of the plot but how that would develop was based on what we as actors bought to each scene. To add to the intrigue of the process each character was given a secret by the director which could be used to shape their character and performance as the film progressed.

Making this film was a huge privilege and one of the most joyful, collaborative experiences I have been involved with. This was down to the amazing cast and crew who worked on this film and who supported the vision of our director Base.

After so long I am so happy to now be able to share the finished film hope that you will take some time to check it out
